The U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC) awarded the Hewlett Foundation headquarters building
a LEED
(Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold certification
in September, 2002.
It was the first building in California and the fifth
in the USA to receive such recognition.
This building reflects many green building design concepts, such as
solar orientation of the building, use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient
systems, and high indoor air quality.
The result is an efficient, cost-effective, environmentally-sound building
that is comfortable, healthy and productive for its occupants.
